Thoroughly enjoyed my trek. It was challenging but worthwhile! I am glad I visited before they build a tram across the valley. Apus peru was great to work with. I would use them again. Bring bug spray!

We are still talking about our epic Choquerquirao trek completed last week! It was every bit as magical - and tough - as the Apus team had prepared us for. Pre- trip planning and communications was excellent including a zoom before leaving the UK and a face to face meeting once in Cusco. Our support team were brilliant cooking amazing meals on a tiny stove ( even flambéd bananas!); and the muleteers - who had our tents, sleeping bags and mattresses all ready when we arrived at camp exhausted - were a godsend. We loved Boneth our guide who was very attentive to how we were doing, kept us informed about what lay ahead - and was good company! We were ‘blessed’ with glorious clear skies which meant high heat and UV and this made the uphills really tough. The route is either steep up - or steep down; there is almost no flat!! We planned together with Boneth and did 4.30 starts to beat the heat where we could. Poles and decent hiking boots a must. We felt the benefit of electrolytes too towards the end of the day. Having done Machu Picchu a few days before ( we loved it but wow it was crowded), finally reaching Choquerquirao and being there ALONE was just magic. An incredible sense of achievement and an unforgettable experience. There is much to see. Don’t miss the llama terraces! We didn’t specifically prepare but we are experienced hill walkers in the UK and both cycle every day. We are in our 60s. That said, we really valued the mules carrying our kit and the comfy tents! There were younger people en route doing the route independently. There is still talk of a cable car being built to the site - so do this trek before it happens!!

We had the experience of a lifetime during our Luxury 5-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu with Apus Peru. This was our first high-altitude hike and first multi-day hike, so we were a bit nervous, but the Apus Peru team made the trek easy and so much fun. The office staff of Sarah and Lorena kept in constant communication with us and answered all our questions leading up to our trek. Our guide Adrian Jimenez was the best-patient, always made sure we were safe, and he even adjusted our itinerary to make the trek easier. He was fun to talk to and we learned so much about Inca history from him. Easily one of the best guides we've ever had on an excursion. Head Cook Andres and Assistant Cook Valentin kept us well-fed the entire trek. Everything tasted fantastic and even the plating was impressive. It was really incredible to see the kind of dishes they created in an outdoor setting. There was always one dish that would just surprise us each day. I still don't know how they managed to make a cake for us on our final night. And finally, there were the team of porters lead by Rosauro. These men carried all of the gear, some 25 kg each, and still managed to arrive at camp ahead of us to set everything up. All of them were so nice and took great care of us. When the wind or rain picked up, they would check our tent stakes and drape a tarp over us to keep us dry. They even re-inflated our air mattresses without us asking. If we were to go on this trek again, we would love to go with this same team.

Wonderful experience. Arturo, our guide throughout was great. His English is very good and he is an encyclopedia of knowledge. From start to finish, we had a great experience with Apus Peru. Correspondence was always accurate and punctual. They paid attention to the small details. Really enjoyed the optional homestay on the Lares trek - comfy bed to sleep in plus plenty of arm blankets. Great to have someone take care of all the logistics, like Macchu Pichu tickets. Overall, highly recommend Apus Peru!

Thank you to Sarah, Claire and Lizzet for helping us plan every detail. Communication was always clear and prompt and easy. The hike exceeded our imaginations! Thank you to Saturnino and his wonderful team of porters. They were all very kind and ensured that we were very comfortable. The tents and equipment were very comfortable and had so many beautiful touches with Andean decorations, a bag of organic toiletries, etc. Each morning we were greeted with hot coffee and water and after a day of trekking we always had a cold drink waiting for us. The bathroom and shower tent were always clean and well maintained. We appreciated how the team cheered for us when we left and arrived to each camp. Thank you also to the wonderful chefs-Alejandro and Valentin. The food was delicious and plentiful and beautiful! There was so much variety and we were amazed by gourmet treats like bananas flambé and a delicious cake to celebrate our birthdays! We honestly don't know how they were able to make such meals on trail. Last, but definitely not least, our wonderful guides- Adrian Jimenez and his assistant Joseph Delgado. They both have such warm and open personalities and we instantly felt like we were hiking with old friends. They are both very skilled hikers and we were very confident hiking with them. A few of us are fearful of heights and they both did everything to make sure we were comfortable. Adrian always positioned himself between us and any scary ledges and did it in a way that did not increase our anxiety. They both shared so much knowledge about Peru, Quechua and history. We loved talking and hiking with them, dining with them and stargazing with them at night If we could give Adrian and Joseph 100 stars we would. We feel so lucky that we were able to hike with the best guides there are. Thank you for helping us create beautiful, lasting memories. We miss you and we hope to stay in touch friends!
